It’s the weekend, time to relax
Take a drive and we will see what we can see
Maybe we will end up in the bright lights
If you like, we could go and see a show

Got a picnic in a hamper
We will find a lay-by on the old A5
Hillman Imps are whizzing by us
Anglias, Triumph Heralds by the score

On the TV when we get home,
Eric, Ernie, Bruce and David Coleman too
Kids are playing, they are outside
Playing outside, they are outside again

And when the family comes at three,
We use the tablecloth for tea on Sunday

No one else I’d rather be with
By the sea, fish and chips upon our knee
All the seagulls try to steal your ice cream
And the waves are making such a happy sound

In the car, swaying side to side and
Singing songs, people think we’re slightly strange
I have won another game of I-Spy
You complain we passed it 20 miles ago

Mother Redcaps: tell me stories
Take a drive all the way along the Prom
In the dips, or in the sand dunes
If you like, we could go the ABC

And when the family comes at three,
We use the tablecloth for tea on Sunday
